This is an action in eminent domain brought by the State of Nebraska to condemn a strip of land to widen U.S. Highway Nos.
6 and 34 as it crossed the farmland belonging to the condemnees Fred C. Swanson and Clarence K. Swanson. Ruth L. Swanson and
Donna A. Swanson are the respective spouses of the other condemnees and have no interest in the property except as such. The condemnees appealed from the award of the appraisers appointed by the county Judge to the district court for Red Willow
County. There the condemnees were designated as plaintiffs and the condemner as defendant and they will be referred to herein
in the same manner.
